Hosur is a small modern town in the southern state of India, Tamil Nadu. History of Hosur
Hosur is an ancient town, almost 800 years old. In the 13th century, the city was named Murasu Nadu during the Chola period. It was in the 16th century that Hosur was named Hosur.
Initially, it was a part of the Mysore Kingdom till 1799. In 1799 Tipu Sultan was defeated in the third Anglo-Mysore war, and then it was given to the British government in 1801. Later, the British government made Hosur the capital of the Salem District.

A distance of the 20.5 km stretch will be covered. It is being said that the metro line will have 16 stations and they will be constructed at a cost of INR 1308 crore.
