Human babies have a lot to learn during their development – the laws of physics, language, and social norms. After learning the basics, most children start school. School provides most of us with a canon of current knowledge about a broad variety of topics.
To many people, learning this canon is sufficient. Others, unsettled by the answers to the questions they have or motivated by other factors, decide to dig deeper and look for the answers themselves. Some of these people become scientists.
In this section, we’ll take a look at causal knowledge through the lens of scientific methods. We’ll introduce some core scientific methodologies and touch upon their benefits and limitations.
The logic of science
