AT&T EXPANDS MOBILE INTERNET COVERAGE IN COVINGTON, VEEDERSBURG, WEST LEBANON AND CARBONDALE
New Cell Sites Activated as Part of Ongoing AT&T Investment in Local Wireless Network
COVINGTON, Ind., Aug. 14, 2012 As part of its continuing network investment to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications, AT&T* today announced the activation of eight new mobile Internet cell sites in Covington, Veedersburg, West Lebanon and Carbondale that will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses. Portions of I-74, SR 63, SR 263 and US 41 will also benefit from the expanded coverage. With mobile Internet speeds, AT&T customers can surf the Web, download files faster, and enjoy the very latest interactive mobile applications. We are delighted that AT&T has expanded service and made this investment in Covington as well as other communities in west central Indiana, said Brad Crain, Mayor of the City of Covington. Wireless broadband access, like the interstate highway system, can be the great enabler when it comes to economic development. It also enhances our overall quality of life.
AT&T invested more than $1 billion in its Indiana wireless and wireline networks from 2009 through 2011. The new mobile Internet cell sites are one part of AT&Ts ongoing efforts to drive investment and innovation to deliver the nations best, most advanced mobile Internet experience for customers.
