Configuring PHOENIX CONTACT Devices

Configuring direct communication with PHOENIX CONTACT measurement devices

1. Use one of the following methods to add or remove a driver: a. On the Insert tab of the ribbon, in the Communication group, click Add/Remove Driver; or b. Right-click the Drivers folder in the Project Explorer, and then click Add/Remove drivers on the shortcut menu.

2. Add MOTCP 3. For Modbus 584/984 addressing: a. Open a STANDARD DRIVER SHEET, right-click on a driver subfolder and select Insert from the resulting popup (see the following figure).

b. Use the Header area parameters as follows: i. Read Completed field: Type in a tag and the communication driver toggles the tag when it completes a read command.

1. Example- RC ii. Read Status field: Type in a tag and the communication driver updates the tag with the status of the last read command 1. Example- RS iii. Write Completed field: Type in a tag and the communication driver toggles the tag in this field when a write command completes. 1. Example- WC iv. Write Status field: Type in a tag and the communication driver updates the tag with the status of the last write command. 1. Example- WS v. Station field: Specify the IP Address of the device and the slot number, using the following syntax: 1. <IP Address>:<Port Number>:<MODBUS ID> 2. Example- 192.168.1.175:502:5 vi. Header field: Specify the data type and/or initial address to be read or written in the equipment. 1. Enter- 4x:50000 c. Use the Body area parameters as follows: i. Tag Name field: Type a tag name for the communication driver to use. ii. Address field: Type a field equipment address (or address offset) related to the project tag.
