Friday SportS
By Rodney Haas [email protected] KINGMAN Football teams that commit seven turnovers in a game dont win too many games. That was the case last week for Kingman High in its 40-21 loss to Flagstaff Coconino. The Bulldogs committed seven turnovers with three of them coming off of fumbles. Its also tricky to coach according to KHS coach Rob York. Its hard to coach it because the way we run practice especially when its an offensive practice, as soon as the quarterback gets wrapped up, we blow the whistle, York said. Thats difficult because thats not really game

Bulldogs, Tigers still have work to do heading into Week 3
Bulldogs must overcome turnovers for win tonight
situation, so they have to be a little more smarter. Out of the three fumbles, two of them occurred on fumbled snaps. Some of those turnovers you can coach, but if you fumble the snap, just fall on it and dont try to pick it up, York said. A lot of that is the kid, the kid has to know. We are not going to spend 10 minutes on a fumble snap drill. The kids have to know, they have to go down and that is stuff you cant coach. Thats the heat of the game, thats instincts thats the kids knowing how to play football. The Bulldogs hope the turnover problem is in check tonight when they host Parker at 7 p.m. See KHS, 2B

Despite undefeated mark Tigers still have room for improvement
By Rodney Haas
[email protected] KINGMAN On paper Kingman Academy looks like a solid football team at 3-0. However, in the opinion of Tigers coach Eugene Kramer there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. We are not a 3-0 team right now, Kramer said. While Kramers assessment has been the same for the last few weeks, its not so much as drastic changes that needs to be made as its more fine-tuning the little things. We went back to a lot more fundamentals (Wednesday) then we have in a long time, Kramer said. There is going to be a lot of fundamentals stuff in making sure we are doing a lot of reads and a lot more looks. Nailing down the fundamentals will be key for the Tigers as every team they face from this point on will get tougher including when KAHS hosts Phoenix Career Success 7 p.m. Saturday at Southside Park. You have to get better every week and thats what they are doing and we have to do the same, Kramer said. Last week we did make some improvements in certain areas but we have to make improvements in other areas, but we are getting close. You dont want to peak yet and were not even close to our peak performance. That is something that you want at playoff time and thats what you work towards. With Tuesdays rains, the Tigers were forced to cancel practice. However, it wasnt a total waste as it gave players an opportunity to take care of other areas. We had some kids that were behind in their classroom work, and we
