Are you interested in the Catholic education of our children? The Office of Catholic
Schools is encouraging arid fostering the development of a Board cjf Specified
Jurisdiction, a new governance model for our elementary parish school, St. Therese.
A Board of Specified Jurisdiction recognizes the expertise and dedication present in the
laity; at the same time it recognizes that the school's viability and vitality for the long-
term rest on broadening the school's base of support in the community.
A Board of Specified Jurisdiction (or BSJ) has authority for decision-making for the
school in specified areas; this authority is delegated by the Superintendent of Catholic
Schools in the areas of vision and mission; institutional development; finance and
facilities; and marketing and recruitment. The BSJ is empowered to cooperate and
collaborate with the principal and the Superintendent in the work of administering and
leading the school.
Are .you interested in bringing your skills, interests, commitment, and experience to this
endeavor? Or, do you have previous board experience from business and/or non-profit
boards? Do yoiiknow sorrieone else who might be so s
An application for the Board may be obtained by contacting the school office and is
available on the parish website. If you are interested in becoming a member, please
