Project Plan For Upgrading Motorcycle (Yamaha R15)

A small plan made by me for upgrading R15 installing dayation kit on the R15 this could boost the performance of the motorcycle from 17hp to 22 hp. This will cost you about more than half the price of the motorcycle.

Project Plan for upgrading R15

1. Objectives: To modify R15 to race track levels, with more power, handling and braking 2. What will success look like: 1. who are we targetting for these product(s) R15 owners who have used their bikes for more than 2 years and are enthusiasts will be the target clients. Mostly R15 Version 1 modified. Since its obsolete and a used one sells for less in the market, also there user want to make them better. 2. clear deliverables defined as outputs that i can expect as a result of this project Yamaha R15 modification to get the machine delivers more performance, handling and better braking. Modification could be done based on the expenditure user wants to exhibit. 3. what cost level will we try to achieve The cost level could only be defined by the type of modification required. Modifications are: a.) Handling Modification: Providing inverted forks in place of telescopic forks for improving handling.

Upside Down Forks b.) Minor Performance Mods: Installing a Free flow exhaust and K&N air filter to get some extra power with minimum modification to stock.

Racing ECU c.) ECU+ CAM modification: Installing Highlift CAM+ECU to make the R15 rev upto 12000 rpm then the stock 10500 rpm. The highlift CAM are modified so that at higher RPM more fuel and air intake is provided to the cylinder and ECU is required to support the process. The ECU and CAMs are provided by Dayatona and it is better to use the same since they are officially tied with Yamaha.

High Quality Free flow exhaust and ECU

d.) Big bore Kit: Big bore kit which is installed between top of cylinder and cylinder head increases the displacement and hence the power generated. There is a great increase in power after installation of big bore kit but it is not very recommendable unless one has a good expertise in it installation and working, since it often yields to engine problems and possibility of customer complaint is high.

Big Bore Kit Final cost of the modification could be find out by Cost of parts + labor charges 4. how will we make: Among the equipment here it most advisable to purchase them. If we want we can make the free flow exhaust because it is simple in design but it has to be designed with care so it serves the purpose of letting free flow the exhaust gases, should not let engine sound loud as some of the cheaper exhaust in the market do, free flow exhaust, should look good so it improve overall look of the motorcycle. 5. 1. a prototype We can get a old R15 and make required modification on it. Also a video of the same R15 could be posted which shows it can deliver better performance than stock. 2. final production

3. Measures of success- ie 1. how will we know the project is on schedule, on budget and 2. most importantly delivering to what it set out to d 3. Must have clear milestone dates

Here we should be able to deliver the modified vehicle on time to the client, after making prototype we can make our own schedule by knowing how much time each step of modifications takes.

4. time plan 1. overall 2. of the various steps 3. of review I cannot comment on this right now, since I have not done this job so this part could only be commented after making a prototype where we will actually get to this job. 5. resources needed at various steps Resources needed at various steps: The upgrades: a.) Handling Improvement: Upside down forks, We can use one on the Duke 200:9000 INR. b.) Minor Performance mods: i) K&N Air Filter: (YA-1208): 2700 INR ii) Free Flow Exhaust: 5000-18000 INR c.) ECU+ CAM (High Revving mod): Dayatona Engine Kit: 31000 INR Note: The Engine Kit comes with a Free Flow exhaust, d.) Big Bore Kit: R15 165cc Big bore kit from Race concepts.

Note: Big Bore Kit, along with ECU and CAM is provided by Race Concepts could be a cheaper alternative to option c. Please note the cost which I have mentioned here is only informative it needs to be checked with market.
