Trainer Notes Session 2 What's Your Baggage

This document provides the trainer notes for Session 2 of a course. The session aims to help course participants (CPs) get to know each other and discuss their hopes, concerns, and questions about the course. It includes two icebreaker activities. The first activity involves CPs mingling and finding others who match descriptions on cards to learn each other's names. The second "What's Your Baggage?" activity has CPs write down their concerns, expectations, and questions about remedial teaching on post-it notes and stick them to a drawn tree poster to identify patterns and reflect as a group.

Suggested Instructional Language

Summarise the session by relating CPs concerns, expectations and questions to change and remedial teaching. Change is inevitable. Factors of change include making choices, willingness, ability and focus. Teaching: As teachers, we must believe in change, must know it is possible, or we wouldnt be teaching because education is a constant process of change. Every single time you teach something to someone, it is ingested, something is done with it, and a human being emerges. (Buscaglia)
