Kit Instructions
The new SFP connectors have a Finisar-designed latch that keeps the SATA cable from pulling free and helps reduce problems related to the duty cycle of standard SAS/SATA cables. Typically, SAS/SATA connectors have a life cycle of only 50 to 100 connections and are prone to disconnect if pulled or nudged. The supplied latching cables have a mechanism that mates with the new SFPs to form a solid connection. The SFPs included in this kit have latches that lock the SFP more securely to the Xgig chassis. The SFPs accept the supplied latching cable connector as well as standard SAS/SATA cable connectors. Finisar offers two varieties of SATA SFPs, a host type and a drive type. Each must be connected to proper equipment type.
Important: Make sure cables are connected correctly. The SFP labeled Host must be
attached to the SAS/SATA host. The SFP labeled Drive must be attached to the SAS/ SATA drive.

The latching cables will fit in most standard SAS/SATA connectors. However, it is known that the male connector of the latching cable will not be able to fit into an internal, shielded female connector on the host or target.
