Alumni Homecoming at PWC Davao

The Philippine Women's College of Davao will hold a three-day alumni homecoming from August 13 to 15, 2009. The event will begin with a homecoming mass and presentation of outstanding scholars. It will feature a campus tour, march of jubilarians from the class years of 1954, 1959, 1969, 1974, 1979 and 1984, and speeches by the alumni foundation president and school president. An award will be given to the Ong sisters for community service, and a certificate of appreciation will be given to Lilian L. Abella. The event will culminate in a food festival showcasing dishes by culinary students who previously won a competition.

The Philippine Women's College of Davao, an educational network of the Philippine

Women's University will hold its three-day alumni homecoming on the theme "Taking
a Second Look @ PWC" starting August 13, 2009 at the PWC Cultural Pavilion in
Matina, Davao City.

Kicking-off the event is a homecoming mass, 2:30 pm to be officiated by Msgr.


Julius S. Tonel, bishop of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay for the guests and jubilarians
belonging to classes '54, '59, '69, '74, '79 and '84.

Highlights of the program following the mass are the presentation of the best and
brightest scholars and the election of the Board and officers of the PWU-PWC
Alumni Foundation of Davao, Inc.

On August 14, the program starts at 4:30 pm with a campus tour to be led by PWC
Vice President and COO Amelia Bonifacio. The march of the jubilarians starts at
7:00 pm, followed by the welcome speech of PWC Alumni Foundation President
Patricia Sarenas and a message by PWU-PWC President Dr. Amelou B. Reyes.

This year's Contributing, Achieving, Participating Alumna (CAPA) awardee for


Community Service will be bestowed to the Ong sisters, the response of which will
be delivered by Lucy Ong-Zitnik. Lilian L. Abella will likewise be presented with
a certificate of appreciation.

Culminating the three-day celebration is a food festival showcasing the talents of


the Hotel and Restaurant Management students who garnered last year the grand
championship in the 8th Mindanao Culinary Festival organized by the Davao Tourism
Association.
