Creating, Imagining and Innovating with paint!

This afternoon your mother was taking Arabic school readiness when you woke up. After your mother greeted you, I asked if you wanted to join us for some art. At first you became distressed; you wanted to have cuddles with your mother. With her assurance you choose to come with me to the white table and e plore the paint. !ou e citedly grabbed an ear bud and went straight to the purple paint, only looking up to e citedly show me the colour you had picked and to check your mother was still in the classroom. !ou carefully made marks on your paper including straight and curved marks. As I observed you I could see you were taking care in how you grasped the tiny ear bud. After trying some other colours you returned to purple again. I noticed you only going over the same marks if it was a different colour, otherwise you used different parts of your page. It was great to see you take care to carefully tidy up once you had finished.

'eparation an iety is a normal part of development, especially at this age. After the summer break at home with your family, it is great to see you settle back so (uickly. I can see you are able to manage your impulses and strive for accuracy ka pai "ujain. !our use of the tripod grip is e cellent and a grasp we usually don)t e pect to see mastered before *.+years. ,ven with the tiny ear bud you had wonderful control of your painting. I really appreciated you taking responsibility for your work and environment as demonstrated by your tidying up.

Where to next? Thank you for sharing your art with me today "ujain, I really enjoyed observing you hard at work creating and imagining. I want to continue to offer you opportunities to e press yourself, in particular nonverbally through rich sensory e periences. While you are e periencing separation an iety, we will continue to encourage and support your mother as detailed in your individual plan.
