We are pleased to present a group exhibition featuring four Romanian artists from the
University of Art and Design, Cluj-Napoca: Isabela Iura, Oana Nstsache , Roxana Ajder
and Camilia Filipov. The artists will be present at the vernissage on Saturday, June 14 2014
from 7- 9.30 p.m.
The exhibition features paintings, drawings and installations. The artists represent a
wide variety of styles and inspirations and they all move effortlessly between representation
and abstraction. The exhibition explores very different themes. For Isabela Iura the portrait is
an ongoing process of interpretation: I paint portraits because the human physiognomy
fascinates me most. Showing her own personality through these portraits and using colours
that represent an insight into her mental and emotional condition at each given time, she also
manages to capture the psychology of her characters. Oana Nstsaches compositions
explore various kinds of forms and colours that have the capacity to spontaneously convey a
complex range of feelings and states of mind: I usually get inspired by what I observe around
me and I create a balanced supportive relationship between colours, forms and lines. Roxana
Ajder focuses on the meaning of animal presence in visual art, thus turning to various types of
symbols, some of them reminding the onlooker of prehistoric cave paintings. The animals
have been used as symbols because they serve conveniently as metaphors for social issues.
Camilia Filipovs interest with subjects like space and time in relation to human life works
together with her use of the language of multimedia: The material is often what inspires me
to be creative. The quality of the material triggers my imagination and inspires me to create
something new.
