Standard Seven
Standard Seven
Rationale/Reflection
NAEYC Standard:
STANDARD 7. EARLY CHILDHOOD FIELD EXPERIENCES Field experiences and clinical practice are
planned and sequenced so that candidates develop the knowledge, skills and professional
dispositions necessary to promote the development and learning of young children across the
entire developmental period of early childhood in at least two of the three early childhood
age groups (birth age 3, 3 through 5, 5 through 8 years) and in the variety of settings that
offer early education (early school grades, child care centers and homes, Head Start programs).
(NAEYC,2010).
Brief Description of Evidence:
During my time here at Ivy Tech, I had the chance to be in active classrooms during my
practicum courses. I was able to work hand in hand with lead teachers in different classroom
settings. The evidence I have provided is a slide show of different times I have interacting with
different aged children.
Analysis of What I Learned:
Throughout the different times I have got to work in different classrooms, I learned what it is
like to work in the field and get practice to help me become a professional. I have gotten early
childhood practice from working with children ages three-five and also children five-twelve. My
experiences also come from working in different settings from child care centers to home
daycare.
How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:
My competence in this standard is proven by my ability to be a professional in the field. I feel
confident in my ability to properly run a classroom on my own. I understand more about how to
create curriculum to promote the development and learning of young children for every age.
