DASHMAN COMPANY
SITUATION ANALYSIS
Dashman company manufactures armed force of U.S. Their work is quite good and it has
around 20 plants currently in the central part of the country. The situation is around Mr. Manson.
He is the resident of the company. Mr.ost is newly appointed as !.. urchase and Mr."arson# an
old employee of the company is now appointed as assistant to Mr.ost.
Mr.Manson recruits Mr.ost as soon as he faces difficulty in securing important raw materials
at the time of world war. Till now he had encouraged plant e$ecuti%es to work as an independent
unit. &fter appointing him# Mr. post 'ust asked him to sol%e the matter. He didn(t e%en familiari)e
him with the culture of company. mr. post wanted to make some structural changes. So the only
thing Mr. manson did was help mr. post to get appro%al from *oard +f Directors for his proposal of
centrali)ing the company.
Mr.ost is a well e$perienced and an autocratic, leader. His pattern of working is reflected in
his decision style. His assistant who is with the company for a long time# suggests him to take the
proposal personally to the e$ecuti%es. *ut he was refused at once. Mr.ost lacks communication
skills. This can -e seen in his letter with serious decision. He is not e%en result oriented as he has
not taken any follow up of his decision.
&s the e$ecuti%es were used to decentrali)ed culture they were resistant to change. The
proposal was taken . weeks from peak time of purchase# the decision was taken as suggestion and
followed their usual routine.
*eing an old employee # Mr. larson worked in same culture that is decentrali)ed structure and
had no interest in interfering with Mr.ost(s decision. *ut for company(s growth and change# he
suggested an effecti%e way to Mr.ost for implementing the change# which was also re'ected .&fter
that he kept silent which resulted in ineffecti%e change.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
autocracy and centrali)ation is the main pro-lem here.
