Punctuation
What is punctuation ?
Punctuation is the use of marks in writing to make the sentence make
sense.
In the next slides there will be some examples of punctuation.
Exclamation
mark
An exclamation mark can
be used at the end of a
sentence to indicate an
exclamation.
Comma
A comma can be used for
replacing 'and' or 'or'
Colon
A colon can be used after a
full sentence, before a list.
Bracket
A bracket is a pair of
characters used to enclose
a section of writing.
Full stop
A full stop can be used to
mark the end of a
sentence.
Question
mark
A question mark can be
used at the end of a
question.
Speech
marks
Speech marks can be used
at the start and end of
speech.
Semi
colon
Semi colons are used to
separate two complete
sentences that are similar.
Apostrophe
An apostrophe can be used
to show the absence of a
letter or letters in a word.
