DAY AND NIGHT
The sun is always in the centre of the solar system
The sun takes a year to rotate . The sun always rotates on its axis,
day is always somewhere in the world. Because the Earth always
faces the sun at sometime. The Earth orbits around the sun and that
does take a year to rotate as in 52 weeks and 365 . But the south
pole is always night and winter in the south pole is day and night
because its closer to the top where its darker .
The Earth rotates from west to east.
Day and night are very useful because we wouldnt have all this
light and dont know when to sleep we always need the sun the
earth day and night.
When the Earth is facing the sun it is day and when the Earth is
facing away from the Sun it is night.
SUNRISE AND SUNSET
The sun rises east to west clockwise. The sun sets in
the west. The Earth takes 24 hours to rotate. When
its sunrise the sun is going up when the sun is going
down its sunset. Sunrise is the start of day and
sunset is the end of day and the start of night. If we
had no sunrise we have no day if we have no
sunset we would have no night. The sunsets in the
west and sunrises in the east. The day is when the
sun is facing the sun and night is when the earth is
facing away from the sun

Shadows
Why do shadows change length during the day?
Shadows change length during the day because when the earth has more sun on it the bigger the
shadows get. Shadows come when theres light on the earth. The shadows change length due to
the Earths Rotation.
At 10am my shadows are long at 10am.
At 12pm when its 12pm my shadows are short.
At 2pm at 2pm my shadows are long again.
Daily activities
People choose when and how they do certain activities
Based on the movement of the earth.
Activities are affected by movement of the Earth
Because the earth is facing the sun so it depends if its day or
night. You cant hang the washing out at night because it will dry
really slow. You cant go to school at night because you would
go to school twice and wouldnt
Get any sleep. You cant have fireworks in the day it would be to
light.
Shadows length
Kay, Finn and rob are standing in a different
positions. on earth . Their shadows will not be the
same length because there on different sides of
the world Kay and Rob have longs shadows.
Because there where sunrise and sunset happen
so there shadows get longer. For Finn his shadow is
short because his right in front of the Earth. Where
is the middle of the day where everyone shadows
turn short and close to the sun.
