The Moeller Technique is one the fundamental features of fluid and ergonomic drum playing.

Whether adding dynamics to a groove or shredding through fills at light-speed knowledge of the
four basic Moeller movements helps.
The Moeller Technique

1. The Full Stroke
This is an accented stroke. The stick starts high and ends high.

2. The Down Stroke
This is an accented stroke. The stick starts high but ends low.

3. The Tap Stroke
This is an unaccented stroke. The stick starts low and ends low.

4. The Up Stroke
This is an unaccented stroke. The stick starts low but ends high. Lift your wrist up towards
your head, allowing the stick to create a free hit. This is the unique selling point of
Moeller technique!

Try these exercises to see how the Moeller movements interact with eachother.
