WORKSHOP RULES AND REGULATION

OBJECTIVE

To prevent harm/injuries especially welders from unfortunate incident

DANGER POINTS/HAZARDS

ELECTRIC SHOCK
FUMES

RADIATION
BURNS

FIRE & EXPLOSION


CONFINED SPACE

BEFORE YOU START

Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and are in good
condition
Ensure suitable screens are in place to protect other workers and the general access to
the welding area is restricted to the welder only
Ensure all ventilation/extraction is operating and appropriate for the process being
performed
Remove flammable or combustible material located near the welding area
Check all hoses, leads and equipment for leaks or other damage
Ensure threads & fittings to Oxygen supplies are clean & oil-free
Ensure appropriate fire extinguishers and first aid readily available

DURING WELDING

PPE appropriate to the process being conducted must be worn at all times

Ensure current is correctly set according to electrode selection.

Maintain a distance of at least 6m from flammable or combustible material


Protect gas supply lines and electrical leads from hot metal & abrasion

Ensure operator does not wrap electrode leads around themselves.

AFTER WELDING

Turn off valves of the gas supplies


Ensure slag and workpiece completely cooled down before leaving work area

Hang up electrode holder and welding cables.

Ensure working area free from any residue electrode, slag, filler rod & etc

Switch off machine and fume extraction (if relevant)
