BQM-177A
BQM-177A
The BQM-177A is designed to meet the need for highly dynamic, high-subsonic, sea-skimming,
anti-ship cruise missile threat emulation. Capable of speeds in excess of 0.95 M, and an altitude
of 40,000 feet, the BQM-177A is uniquely suited for missions that include the testing and
evaluating of new weapon systems, and training aviators in air-to-air combat scenarios.
The U.S. Navy selected the BQM-177A for its next-generation subsonic aerial target. The BQM-177A supports various mission requirements
by carrying a number of internal and external payloads. Like the slightly larger BQM-167A, payloads include smoke oil, scoring, Identification
Friend-or-Foe (IFF), passive and active radar augmentation, infrared (IR) augmentation (such as plume pods), chaff, flare, and electronic
countermeasures.
