In
this
study,
will
be
held
design
and
the
best
manufacturing
process
to
improve
the
performance
of
an
internal
combustion
engine.
A
main
issue
motivates
this
research:
How
to
reduce
the
consumption
in
an
engine?
Nowadays,
is
a
serious
problem
especially
for
big
companies.
In
order
to
achieve
our
aim
it
is
necessary
to
divide
the
project
in
three
different
parts:
- Explanation
and
description
of
an
internal
combustion
engine.
- Design
and
manufacturing
process
of
the
piston.
- Choice
a
kind
of
piston
to
improve
the
efficiency.
For
this
research,
it
has
conducted
a
series
of
tests.
First,
it
has
used
CAD
(Computer-Aided
Design)
to
sketch
the
future
piston.
Moreover,
it
has
used
a
test
engine
employing
different
pistons
and
replacing
them
on
it
to
get
the
engine
to
be
as
efficient
as
possible.
Finally,
and
to
conclude
this
paper,
the
findings
extracted
from
the
research
result
that,
the
main
aspects
of
a
piston
are
de
design
but
also
the
material
that
it
is
made.
It
has
achieved
a
performance
increase
of
4%.
Thus,
we
can
increase
the
efficiency
of
any
internal
combustion
engine.
