Six Strategies for Change

Strategy 1: Creating a Shared Vision of the


Change:
The vision is that technology and library will be
aligned with literacy to enhance learning.

Strategy 2: Planning and Identifying Resources


Necessary for the Change:
In ordered to implement this change, new roles
will be identified.

Strategy 3: Investing in Professional


Development/Professional Learning:

Explanation for Addressing this Strategy with Stakeholders:
In order for all teachers including technology and library teachers to
share the vision of aligning literacy with technology and library, the
teachers must be shown data to prove how successful students can
be. Both technology and library teachers must be given training on
how to best implement technology into literacy and library into
literacy.
Explanation:
Technology and library teachers will no longer be solely responsible
for teaching only one element. Now the teacher must align literacy
with their current instruction. In order to help the teachers identify
with this new role the teacher will be shown different ways to
combine the two. They will receive ongoing professional
development and training in the Reading Street curriculum we follow.
Explanation:

Teachers will be given training to support


implementation.

Teachers will be provided with training in Reading Street which is the


literacy curriculum used. Administrators will be trained with how to
incorporate literacy in to technology and library to ensure that they
can support teachers.

Strategy 4: Checking or Assessing Progress:

Explanation:

Teachers will use reading street assessments to


determine growth.

Students will be assessed weekly as well as given benchmark tests


every six weeks. The results of the assessments will be compared
with those from the year before to determine if students are making
more growth. The information form these assessments will be put
into a graph to visual see the difference. All teachers and
administrators will be given the results.

Strategy 5: Providing Continuous Assistance:

Explanation:

The data from the assessments will be used to


determine where changes may need to be made.

Ongoing professional development will help the momentum of


implementation. This will also help improve implementation as well.
We will take the data from assessments to determine where changes
may need to be made.
Explanation:

Strategy 6: Creating a Context Conducive to


Change:
Including technology during the specials time will
help make this change possible.

All teachers will be held accountable for improving assessment


scores. In order to incorporate technology the students will go to
computer lab for 50 minutes during their literacy block once a week.
For library the students will go during specials.
