Stem Syllabus 2014

STEM Launch K-8 offers a Digital Media course taught by Ms. Saleh. The purpose of the course is for students to transform traditional technology into new and innovative ways using digital media and 21st century tools. The course covers six essential learning standards related to creativity, communication, research, critical thinking, digital citizenship, and technology operations. Students will work throughout the quarter on projects to meet the standards. They will be assessed using a 4-point scale and receive individual and group grades on collaborative projects. Course Description:
The purpose of the course is to for students to transform traditional technology into a new and
innovative way through several digital media and 21st century tools.

Essential Learning / Content Standards

1. Creativity and Innovation


Students demonstrate creative thinking,
construct knowledge, and develop innovative
products and processes using technology.

2. Communication and Collaboration


Students use digital media and environments
to communicate and work collaboratively,
including at a distance, to support individual
learning and contribute to the learning of
others.

3. Research and Information Fluency


Students apply digital tools to gather,
evaluate, and use information.

4. Critical Thinking, Problem Solving,


and Decision Making
Students use critical thinking skills to plan and
conduct research, manage projects, solve
problems, and make informed decisions using
appropriate digital tools and resources.

5. Digital Citizenship
