Aim:
I aim to create 5-6 minute short Horror film based on a Creepypasta story about a
student in her early twenties who goes on a solo camping trip, only to find that she is
being stalked.
Target Audience:
My target audience is already established by the huge number of Creepypasta fans
spread all over the internet. The existing Creepypasta stories, audio recordings and
short films which can be found on YouTube are very popular, effectively giving my
film a built in audience before it is even released.
My film sits comfortably in the Horror/Drama genre, as I am going much more for one
very creepy reveal towards the end of the film rather than visually explicit content.
Project Title:
Such A Pretty Girl
Aim of Project:
The aim of my film is to provide a short and engaging story which lures the viewer
into a false sense of security and then hits them with a creepy twist at the end. I aim
for this ending to stay with the viewer afterwards, which is why I chose to focus more
on psychological/Dramatic Horror than my initial, gorier and more action-based ideas.
When A Stranger Calls (1979) is close in tone and levels of explicit content as my
short Horror. I have used www.shortoftheweek.com to gain insight into what works
and what doesnt in LoToNo budget short Horror productions. I have also used
YouTube to watch other peoples Creepypasta videos.
I intend to put care and attention into the Mise-en-Scene in order to achieve the right
look and fluidity to my film. This will comprise costume, set dressing and will inform
the use of colour in the shot composition in order to achieve a bleak look fitting the
tone of the storyline.
I will be using sites such as www.filmsite.org to establish the genre of the piece and
www.IMDb.com to see which other films are similar and style and tone. Watching
these films will inform the way in which I shoot the film and also give me some ideas
which I may not have thought of before.
The music I would really like to use is not royalty free, so I plan to contact the artists
record label and see if I can get some kind of waiver, as my film is for non-profit
purposes. I also plan to contact the owner of the rights to my more suspenseful music
which I will pull from www.YouTube.com. In case this isnt possible I will extensively
search the internet for royalty free music to use in place of the copyrighted songs.
In pre-production I will run through the scenes and complete a test shoot to weigh up
my options when it comes to properly shooting the film. This will be especially
important in the night time scene to establish the limitations of shooting with limited
lighting.
I have already completed quite extensive research into the codes and conventions of
Horror films, however I will need to have a look into the codes and conventions for
drama films, as the film is largely drama until the end. I will not need to worry about
breaking any copyright laws as I aim to use only footage which I myself capture. No
sound effects will be required throughout the running time.
I am going to use very naturalistic lighting for the night shoot, so perhaps will need to
use battery powered lighting. I do think however that a camping light will provide

The equipment I will use will consist of two Canon SLR 650Ds, a RODE camera
mounted microphone and two tripods.
I will need to plan my filming days and nights in for when the weather is appropriate
to shoot in, taking cast and crew comfort and equipment safety into consideration. I
intend to play around a lot with focus pull techniques in the night time sequence and
exploit the contrast that can be easily achieved.
If previous projects are anything to go by our tutors are very helpful in terms of giving
advice and support, so I will have this resource to fall back on should I need it.
My initial review of the film will be screenings with friends. I will then get them to fill in
a questionnaire asking about how successful the film is at meeting my initial
intentions, whether it meets the required codes and conventions and whether it is
enjoyable overall.
