Classroom Rules

and Procedures
MR. CASTEEL

Classroom Rules

Respect everyone in the classroom, including yourself.

Come to class on time and prepared.

Write in black or blue ink ONLY.

Raise your hand to speak.

Contribute to classroom discussions.

What is said in the class stays in the class.

Do NOT raise your hand to ask to go to the restroom.

Respect

Respect everyone in the classroom, including yourself.

This includes property.

Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.

Expect the same from everyone in the classroom, including the

teacher. You deserve nothing less.

Respecting yourself includes presenting the best of yourself

possible, in your speech, actions, and work.

Always strive to grow and push yourself beyond your known

limits. You might surprise yourself!

Be Prepared

Always be in class, ready to go on time. I start when the bell

rings.

Be prepared with assignments, paper, and pens.

While I may have some of these materials available, do NOT

expect it. YOU are responsible for having what you need for class.

Write in Ink

Have faith and confidence in your work. Use ink.

In all assignments you will turn in to me, write in black or blue ink
only.

Pencil is not permitted except for scantrons and personal notes.

Classroom Discussions

We will have many discussions in this class.

To keep the discussions orderly, always raise your hand to speak.

Students will usually be called on in as close to the order they

raise their hand as possible.

Sometimes, other students will be called upon to ensure that

everyone participates.

We may discuss controversial topics in this class. To encourage a

strong discussion, do not talk about what your classmates said
outside of class.

Restroom

Do NOT raise your hand to ask to go to the restroom. It is

distracting to the classroom discussion.

If the pass is available, get up without disrupting the class, sign

out, and go.

Sign in when you return.

5 minute limit.

Classroom Procedures

Beginning of Class

If there are handouts for the day, they will be on the front table.

Turn in all work in the IN basket. All homework is due at the

beginning of class, unless I tell you otherwise.

If you wish to pick up any of your old papers, they will be filed in
the crate for your class.

These old papers will be thrown out at the end of each quarter.

Take your seat and begin working on the vocabulary on the

board, if any.

During Class

Remain in your seat.

Raise your hand to speak or ask a question.

NEVER be afraid to ask a question. The only foolish question is the

one that is never asked.

ALWAYS listen to your classmates questions and the answer. You may
have the same question!

If you must leave your seat, do not cause a distraction for other
students.

Cell phones are to be silenced and put away, unless we are working
on an activity where you may use the Internet

Using a cell phone for texting, Facebooking, etc. may cause the phone to
be confiscated. Confiscated phones will be returned at the end of class.

End of Class

Clean up after yourself

Put away all borrowed materials

Turn in any classwork to the IN basket

Return the class to the way you found it

Remain in your seat until the bell rings. NEVER line up at the
door.

Questions? Suggestions?

This is your class too!

If you think there is a better way to do things, PLEASE tell me,

and the class and myself will consider your ideas.

Remember, ideas with reasons usually end up convincing more

people. Be prepared to explain WHY your idea is a good one,
even if it seems obvious to you.
