Over this period, investments increased from 8.2 billion to over 70 billion. While actual yield on investments was often higher than the statutory rate early on, it declined and was lower than the statutory rate in later years, especially from 2004 onwards. The statutory rate also declined from 12% to 8.25% over the time period shown.
