Welcome to the new newsletter regarding the Horselymics and focusing on the
2016 games. This will be sent out to all Stables competing, and will provide the
various information needed in order for you to take part.

Dressage, Eventing and Show
Jumping:
These are the equestrian events at the
real Olympic games next year. Theres
one problem: I cant find out dates. And
I want to use the exact same dates as
them. This is all I know so far: the
individual and team Eventing final
(show jumping and medal ceremony)
are on the 9th. There is one final on the
12th and another on the 15th, 17th and
20th. From the 5th-8th there is something
going on, two days of which would be
for the first two stages of the Eventing.
Something happens on the 10th and
11th, then again on the 14th and 16th. If
you can tell me what any of these nonfinals and finals are, please do.
Dressage:
An individual and a three-horse team event will be held simultaneously. This has
three phases:
Grand Prix: The horse and rider perform difficult pre-determined movements. If
we have enough entries, 6 teams will qualify and 32 individuals will progress
the 24 qualifying team members and the 8 best-placed individuals. (Thats
basically what it says on the website. If you want to figure out how 24 team
members got qualified when only 6 teams (3 horses each) are supposed to
qualify then go ahead).
Grand Prix Special: The horse and rider perform difficult pre-determined
movements. This phase determines the winners of the team event by adding
their score from the two phases together. If we have enough entries, 18 horses
from the individual event will qualify for the final.
Grand Prix Freestyle: We really must watch this one during the real Olympics,
and the Paralympics too. The horses and riders now perform their moves, which
they choreograph to music, and in the end the winners of the individual event
are determined.
Qualification
To qualify a horse must have won in a Championship event or Advanced level
from March 2014 in which there were at least: 5 horses in level II and I and 4
horses in level III plus. The website says 6 any level, but that would mean only
those in teams qualified, and as it is that doesnt make too much sense because I
think there were only three teams per level entered. Unfortunately that leaves
only the Double Spring Award 2014, until we catch up to date. There will also be
a Trial later, so please send your entries for that. So far, these horses are
qualified: Robin (PF), Sea Breeze, Esther, Star, Cheyenne, Debra, Pet, Bubbles
(PF), Nugget (ATRA), Winning Streak, Puzzle, Henry and Firecrest. The Trial may
have unlimited entries, and will be level VI (Advanced), never mind about
whether your horse is qualified or not. Only those in the top three will qualify in
for the individual event from the individual competitors on the condition there
are at least 9. (Horses will automatically compete in both team and individual for
the trial). In team, the number qualifying will depend greatly on the number of
teams. If we have 2 or 3 teams, the winning one only will qualify. With 4 or 5
teams, the top two teams will, if 6 or more, the top three. Dressage-qualified
horses can qualify for the Eventing if they have come/come in the top 3 in an
Eventing competition from March 2014 onwards.
Eventing:
Consists of dressage, cross-country and show jumping in that order on
consecutive days. (Photo of cross-country). A stables/farm may send up to 5
horses, on the condition they have qualified. Team and individual events will run
concurrently, and in the former, the winning team will be the one with the
highest score/lowest penalties out of the best 3 team members. The top 25 (if we
have enough horses) individuals will go into the final round of show jumping, and
from there the winner will be determined.
Qualification
You can read about the Trial on the other page. Most information about
qualification is at www.horselympictrials.weebly.com/how-to-qualify.html. I will try
to squeeze in another Eventing competition before the trial. (I will enter 5 Rosie
Farm horses). Qualified horses must stop competing in Eventing to give others a
chance after the Horse Shoe Cup 2014.
