Founded an independent studio as a "Social Project" in an attempt to recruit newcomers into the gaming
industry and train them on-the-job by putting them into game development production. This studio has
grown to become greatly successful in the independent game development industry. In a short three (3)
year period this studio grew to over 20 developers & artists and supported more than a dozen independent

four wins resulting in completely new business and one recomplete. He provided technical writing and input
for a multitude of proposals to major government agencies including the USDA, the VA, and the Department

Editor at LevelUp! Magazine

Recently chosen to take over the role of Editor at LevelUp! Magazine. LevelUp! is a game development
centric magazine developed by founders at Westwood College and is distributed to game design and
development students around the nation. At this position I analyze gaming industry trends and plan content
to suit current trends, recruit and manage columnists, oversee implementation of the magazines new
direction, and provide final editing and formatting for each issue. Within the scope of this position I was
also placed in charge of creating an entirely new direction for the magazine including development of new
templates, theme, and overseeing the development of LevelUp! magazines new web portal.

Advising Assistant at Augusta State University
January 2006 - September 2008 (2 years 9 months)
Mr. Collins acted as an assistant to the Director of Academic Advisement, Kathy Thompson, and performed
a number of tasks ranging from student counseling to IT support for a small office (Approx 4 employees).
This involved heavy clerical and reporting work, database entry, QA testing of new products, cooperation
with the Special Projects department for implementation of the BANNER student database, and occasional
maintenance on office computers and networks when the IT department was unavailable. Mr. Collins

constructed a large inter-office wireless network during his tenure as an Advisement Center team member.
Full system design documentation and user documentation was crafted and provided to the Dean of Students
for approval after this project. He later managed 2-4 student assistants within the Advising Center, and
led several projects designed to construct new department policies and modernize the universitys student
advisement process. These processes were later brought before the student senate for the University of
Georgia education system, and many of the policies and processes were adapted in 2008 to modernize the
university systems educational institutes across the state.
Small Business Owner at Collins Business Solutions
January 2006 - January 2008 (2 years 1 month)
In 2006 Mr. Collins founded a small business focused on web development and medium scale IT projects.
These projects included network programming, web design, and web based application maintenance.
Contracts initiated by Mr. Collins and his team during this period included a large community website for
two popular web portals for major online technology news sites. This team grew to five employees before
initiating a number of contracts for agencies such as the Augusta, GA United Way community portal,
the Horry County Roughnecks charity bike club, and the City of North Augustas community web portal.
(Operated by the Aiken Standard, not the city of North Augusta.) These projects typically included the
management of two web developers and one or two artists, and spanned between one month and a year.
Ongoing work for each of these web portals and applications included the development and/or maintenance
of complex community features such as feature rich web forums, event calendars, project management /
reporting scripts, integrated budgeting scripts. Every project included early design documentation and a full
test version of each site for customers to view and approve final design changes before development.
Director of Marketing at Collins Construction
January 2003 - March 2006 (3 years 3 months)
Mr. Collins managed team of two in constructing marketing campaign & website for a local construction
firm based out of the southeast. Here Mr. Collins planned, initiated, and managed a major project which
created customer feedback database in order to develop customer retention. This project led to a significant
increase in return customers for construction contracts, and eventually led to a major construction contract
with the city of Augusta. Additionally, Mr Collins oversaw the development of a database which was
accessible remotely via cell phone and PC which allowed marketing members to access vital customer
information about customers and contracts. This program was later integrated into a future web based project
which allowed customers to view potential renovations through integration with an AUTOCAD like web
application.
Designer at Honourbound LTD
September 2003 - May 2005 (1 year 9 months)
DMr. Collins joined the Honorbound team at a young age, and quickly ascended the ranks as his list of
responsibilities grew. He designed several key gameplay systems and provided end to end system design
documentation for each system designed. He also designed and co-developed a number of online community

tools including cross system IRC chat, an in-game social networking platform, Heads Up community
dashboard, Player progress web portal. He was later placed as a team lead for all phases of web based forums
integration into developers Community E-Tools. It later become necessary for the game engine to
change dramatically in the middle of development, as the current middleware in use was aging faster than the
development effort could keep up. One of the largest tasks required to accomplish this transition was a new
combat and character generation system. Mr. Collins designed a new comat and character generation system
and provided complete whitepapers on these systems and their resulting Career path for player characters
and developers alike to read and understand. This list of whitepapers constructed by Mr. Collins and his
team would soon include a complete whitepaper for the design overhaul of the existing Torque Game Engine
map generation system to allow for larger simulation maps to be used in gameplay without using extensive
system resources. Mr. Collins would later be moved to the QA (Alpha / Beta) team as the QA Lead. Here
he managed the testing team during the alpha and early beta phases which varied between two and twelve
QA Specialists and a software developer. In this team they cooperatively designed and developed a highly
scalable web portal that would transition to the testing team that game developers used to track changes and
bugs to the initial code. This web portal included a trouble ticket system, user feedback forums, secure user
authentication, and a subsystem for eventually managing user accounts.
Expert Panelist - MMO / Online Virtual Worlds at IMGS
September 2003 - November 2003 (3 months)
Due to his continuing contributions to the gaming industry, and an online fan following of his previously
written articles, Mr. Collins was invited to join a panel of experts in the area of Virtual Worlds in 2003.
This panel contributed to analysis and research sessions, and later launched the magazine Massive Online
Gaming, Originally published by Prima Publishing. Mr. Collins specific contributions during this period
included weekly and daily content updates for magazine websites, two published articles within the quarterly
magazine itself, and several widely praised whitepapers and articles on the topic of the emergence of Virtual
Worlds.
Section Editor: Online Virtual Worlds at Ianstorm
September 2002 - November 2003 (1 year 3 months)
Here Mr. Collins acted as section editor on the topic of Online Virtual Worlds. He managed a team of experts
who were contributors on the subject of MMO's and Online Worlds. Mr. Collins planned and oversaw the
maintenance and development of Online Worlds website areas and posted daily reports to the community.
This section of the Ianstorm website grew to become the most popular section on the site, with well over
10,000 fans. Later Mr. Collins managed the overall Ianstorm community and acted as a direct link between
the communities of various games and their developers. He conducted interviews with officials from
companies such as Origin, Sony Online Entertainment, Lucasarts, Cryptic, and CCP on a weekly basis on a
variety of subjects related to the development, evolution, design, and player experience of MMORPG's. His
team continued to oversee player to developer Q&A sessions in an IRC environment, and developed media
contacts with most of Ianstorms partner development houses. This work also included attendance at trade

shows and the establishment of a media presence that would provide a link to emerging MMO development
houses.
