Field One: Observed Lesson
Manitoba Elementary
Language Arts, Grade 2
I will begin by introducing the idea of what an antonym is. I
will explain to the students that antonyms are words with
opposite meanings. I use the idea of the word ANT in
antonym to design my first SMART Board slide. I am hoping
this will get the students interested and engaged. The
students will be the main focus of the learning because they
are going to be volunteering to do questions on the SMART
Board. I will make sure all of the students get a chance to
come up to the SMART Board at least once. They will be able
to demonstrate their knowledge by successfully completing
the antonym worksheet. I will know they are extremely
confident if they can finish the additional assignment as
well. The additional assignment will be to pick their own
word and find its antonym, and then compare the two by
drawing a picture and using a sentence to describe the two.
