Melanosis coli is a benign pigmentation disorder of the colon wall often seen during colonoscopy where brown pigment macrophages, not melanin, give the colon a dark color. Constipation can be caused by issues like narrowing of the colon, retention of stool, or problems with the autonomic nervous system involving the adrenal glands.
