Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) - Marine Casualties

Reference:

Law 2 of January 6, 2009.

1. The purpose of this Circular is to inform users of the Panamanian registry that in accordance to
the established by the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, Regulation 5.1.6 about Maritime
Accidents, any serious marine casualty taking place on board Panamanian flagged vessels,
resulting into injuries or loss of life, shall be investigated by the Marine Accident Investigation
Department.
2. That the investigation shall only be performed by personnel of the Marine Accident Investigation
Department of the Panama Maritime Authority.
3. That the e-mail to report an accident causing injuries or death to seafarers is
[email protected]
4. That given the aforementioned, each company or ship shall develop its internal procedures and
send the information or report through the form that is published in the webpage
www.segumar.com.
5. The purpose of these guidelines is to assist States to implement the occupational safety and health
provisions of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) of the International Labour

6. That given the established on Title 4 of MLC, 2006, the following forms shall be found below
and must be completed and sent to [email protected]
- Model of Maritime Declaration of Health
- Seafarers Injury Medical Record
- Ships Master Report Form
