how to behave in public and
not just in school.
1. Did the teacher maintain good order in the class? How did she do this?
By reviewing the classroom rules to them before each activity or subject begins. Also, by asking
them questions to make sure that they understood the rules.
2. Is the teacher clear and consistent in establishing rules and expectations regarding
behavior?
Yes, she said that as long as the students love and respect you then maintaining a good classroom
management will be easy.
3. Which of these strategies would you use/not use? Why?
Rewarding system, I would use it because children who well-behave deserve an award once in a
while for their hard work.
4. Was there anything that could have been done differently?
I would prefer that instead of rewarding the students at the end of the week, it would be better to
do it at the end of the month. It would motivate students to keep up the good work for a longer
time.
5. What surprised you?
Ali has been behaving good and havent used violence on anyone. I had a discussion about him
with one of the teachers and we were all surprised and proud to see how he has been acting
lately. I think that being patient and not giving up on the child is very important and seeing his
progress has proved our point.
6. What shocked you?
I got quite shocked when the students ran to the toilet and one of them got injured, I heard Ms.
Ebtihal reminding them about the rules and why they should walk slowly and not race each
other.
7. What delighted you?
I felt proud of myself when I got Widad to enter the classroom, I didnt try to drag her or shout. I
thought that if I was patient with her and gave her time to calm down and communicated with
her using love and respect then she would listen to me and come to the classroom on her own
will. Through this experience, I gained more confidence about teaching children and found my
own method on how to communicate with them. On my last observation, Widad came to class
and walked up to me and said: I didnt cry today and I praised her on that.
