~ Carrie Fisher ~
The Life of a Superstar!
Arent you a little short for a
stormtrooper?
Carrie said to
Luke in
Star Wars
. You may be
wondering Wasnt her name
Leia, or am I just forgetting
things? Have you ever heard of
Carrie Fisher?
You probably
dont even realize you have. You
may recognize her if I call her Princess Leia from Star Wars. Carrie Fisher is
an acclaimed actress, novelist, screenwriter, and performance artist. So, what
inspired Carrie Fisher to start acting and how did she become so successful?
Carrie Fisher was inspired by her talented family and positive friends
who motivated her.
Being the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds,
she was inspired by their creative career choices. In 2012, her mom was in
Singing In the Rain
. After, her mom was in
One for the Money
. Her dad
sang over 30 hit songs including
I Need You Now
(1954). She once said In
the Fifties, my parents were known as 'America's sweethearts. Their pictures
graced the covers of all the newspapers. They were the Brad Pitt and Jennifer
Aniston of their day. But, her parents arent the only stars in her family. Her
younger brother is actor, director, and cinematographer Todd Fisher. And, her
step sisters, Joey and Tricia Fisher, are both actors too.
She was mentored by family friends who inspired her to be an actress.
Elizabeth Taylor and Mike Todd are just a couple of fun family friends that
influenced her.
Taylor was an actress and she stared in the hit movie
Cleopatra
(1963).
She and Liz (Taylors new nickname) bonded at the
Easter Party. I
n 1950,
Mike Todd formed
Cinerama
, a movie tech company and
theater.
Carrie Fisher succeeded in the acting business with the stellar help of
her movie star mom, awesome talents, and fantastic fans.
Her mom,
Debbie Reynolds
, was very helpful, sometimes a little too
helpful.
When the
cast flew coach to England, Debbie called to complain.
Carrie simply said, Mother, I want to fly coach, will you f@#$ off?! and hung
up.
Carrie Fishers talents assisted her too. She is athletic because she did
some of her own stunts. They did not use stunt doubles for the scene that Leia
and Luke swing to safety. When she was asked to lose 35 lbs she did it! The
fact that she beat big names like
Glenn Close
and
Meryl Streep
makes her
determined.
She also persisted through the Star Wars movie even though
things didnt go her way. She didnt like her Bagel Bun, Metal Framed Slave
Bikini, or White No Lingerie Dress.
Fans were a big help to her.
She has a marijuana (type of drug)
named after her and Graham Norton
is a big fan and he supported by
taking her to dinner.
Also Dan
Aykroyd, a fan of hers, saved her
from choking on a brussel sprout
while
she
Brothers
.
was
in
The
Blues
Carrie Fisher pursued her dreams wholeheartedly. With the support of
her mom, talents, & fans and the inspiration from her family & friends, she has
been in over 40 movies. She said in her book,
Postcards From The Edge
:
There
is no point at which you can say, Well, Im successful now. I might as well take
a nap.
