To Whom It May Concern,

I am pleased to be writing a letter of reference for Mr. Ben Olson. My name is Rachel Strain and I am a
kindergarten teacher at Harriet Bishop Elementary School in Rochester, MN. In the fall of 2015, I had
the privilege of acting as supervising teacher for kindergarten placement of Winona State student, Ben
Olson. During Bens six week placement in my kindergarten classroom, he was responsible for helping
out with classroom set up prior to the start of the school year, assisting me in setting up rules and
procedures for the beginning weeks of school, collecting data for baseline assessments, and leading
both small and whole group instruction in language arts and math.
I would describe Ben as a committed and devoted professional. Ben is a passionate person. He gives
100% to whatever he is working on. Ben stepped into his role as a student teacher in my classroom with
ease, grace and confidence. He was eager to take direction, demonstrated compassion for the students
and was considerate of the students various needs and strengths. Bens joy of children was apparent in
his interactions with the students. He displayed genuine warmth and concern for the children he
worked with. Ben consistently demonstrated commitment to making sure each student he worked with
was having a positive school experience.
I would recommend Ben Olson for any job that requires commitment, enthusiasm and hard work. My
students enjoyed the six weeks that Ben Olson was a student teacher in my classroom.
Sincerely,

Rachel Strain
