You learn the basics of an injection molding machine.
You will be able to identify the Sprue, Runners, Gates,
and Parting Line of a mold.
You learn the basic principles of designing a plastic part
in Catia V5. This includes determining the nominal wall
thickness, incorporating undercuts or openings and
adding draft. You also learn the importance of fillets.
You learn how to design your part with Catia V5.

Openings: An opening is created when the core


and cavity, contacting tightly, prevent plastic
from filling an area known as a shutoff. Then the
moving platen pulls the part away, out of the
cavity, clearing the opening. Once the mold
separates, the part ejects normally.
