He hoped the Council would pave the way for Christian unity
He wanted to make the Catholic Church part of the modern world
Hoped the Church would revise its way of thinking and practice, so
that it would better enable the church to do Gods work and serve
the whole people of Gods work on earth.

6. Explain 4 important ways in which Mass and the focus of the Church
has changed.
Pre-Vatican ll, the focus of the Catholic Church had shifted from
preparing all the baptised for missions to focusing on the power of
the ordained to transform bread and wine.
7. Vatican II produced 4 key documents Gaudium et Spes,
Sacrosanctum Concilium, Dei Verbum and Lumen Gentium.
Gaudium et Spes articulated how the Catholic Church would relate
to the modern world from Vatican II onwards.
