The church is meant to be a group of believers who are banded
together to do Gods work together.
What Christ did: He gave gifts to believers.
What pastors do: equipping saints for ministry.
What believers do: ministry.
I. Your ministry will edify the body -- v. 12-13.
A. Spiritual gifts are given to every believer (1 Cor 12:7).
B. These gifts are our means to edify build up.
1. Edifying will come from the saints who are doing the
work of the ministry.
2. These gifts are given, not to elevate us, but to edify
others.
C. We all need to be edified -- till we all come....
1. Christ is the standard of measurement for our lives.
2. We need the help of the church for all of our lives.
There are ways we can grow to be better equipped to
serve Christ.
II. Your ministry will protect the body -- v. 14.
A. Using your spiritual gift will facilitate maturity.
B. Immature believers are susceptible to false teaching.
Cults sound Christian but have unorthodox teachings.
C. How mature are you as a believer (a babe, a child, a teen, an
adult)?
A child is: inconsistent, incompetent, play orientated.
Be mature. Make choices that will grow up in your
spiritual life.
III. Your ministry is essential to the body -- v. 15-16.
A. The whole body is needed for full and healthy growth.
1. joined and knit together... -- you have to have the
various parts to be a whole body.
2. ....every part does its share -- each has a function to
perform.
B. If parts of the body are inactive the body is missing vital
functions.
Means, motive and opportunity: prepared to serve.
