Language Arts
What an awesome second week of summer camp! I am so excited to have your child
in my class this summer. This summer, students will be participating in a variety of
Nonfiction Common Core Standards for grammar skills and genre of writing, such as
Narrative, Descriptive, Expository, Informative, Argumentative and Persuasive. This
week students will complete a Narrative paragraph using sensory details and figurative
language. Grammar skills will be parts of speech, figurative language, sensory details
and punctuation. The LA objective for this week is writing narrative texts to examine
a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection,
organization, and analysis of relevant content. Our field trip for next week is the
Aquarium.

Math

We have gotten in the groove

of working on our math skills.
The students are getting to
know each other and working
well together. Next week the
sixth graders will be working
on ratios and proportions.
The seventh graders will be
working on geometry, and the
eighth graders will start
working on exponential
functions. Next weeks field
trip is the Aquarium.

Reading/Literacy
Our second week of camp has been
full of learning and laughter! This
week students took a quiz on their
SAT word. We will work on figurative
language this week. Students will begin
and continue to work on their Menu
Choice Project. Please continue
reading your fiction book for our
upcoming book report project after
the holiday break. Next weeks field
