REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Sunflower Oil is used as an ingredient to many products like biodiesel, lubricants and
many more. It is also a popular ingredient in cosmetic and skin products, one of its main
benefits as a skin care solution is its ability to help the skin retain moisture. Millions of
people either apply it directly onto their skin, or use cosmetic products that contain
sunflower oil, to avoid excess dryness. Many sun blocks made from different raw
materials have been produced, but this time we plan to prove that sunflower oil can be
used as a sun block. Nowadays, the Greenhouse Effect and UV Rays which trap heat
from the sun into the atmosphere or “El Nino” as we call it here in the Philippines has
been one of the Major Problems faced by people, especially to those with sensitive skin.
"Topical Vitamin C can prevent the consequences of prolonged sun exposure which can
lead to skin cancer," says Karen E. Burke, MD, in a news release. "Supplementation with
natural Vitamin E in 400 mg per day has been noted to reduce photo damage, wrinkles
and improve skin texture." Sunflower Oil contains an extreme amount of Vitamin C and
Vitamin E which will surely affect the effectiveness of the sun block. There haven’t been
any said Disadvantages of applying Sunflower Oil on the skin. In fact, the oil brings out
youthfulness in the skin and helps make your skin supple by locking moisture in, partially
because sunflower oil is easily absorbed and doesn't tend to leave a sticky, oily film, this
gives the people an urge to try sun block with sunflower oil as its essential ingredient.
