Chapter 61: Viewing The Dump Analysis Viewing The Dump Analysis
Overview
Overview
A dump analysis is an extensive list designed to help you determine the cause of–and possible solutions
for–program errors. The ABAP/4 Development Workbench issues a “short dump” when a report or
transaction is terminated due to a serious error. The system records the error in the system log and writes
a snapshot of the program at the time of its termination to a special database table called SNAP.
A dump analysis provides a user or developer with information about the cause of an error that forced a
program to end abnormally. By analyzing the dump analysis list, a practiced user can quickly determine
where and why an abnormal end occurred.
