,,ION,, BY LIVIU REBREANU AND ,,MOROMETII,, BY MARIN PREDA

Marin Preda and lIVIU rebreanu are known in worldwide through their
work, but these two great masterpieces (as literary critics have been called)
helped Romanian literature to take a step in its development.

The two novels are based on real facts spent on rural background.

Liviu Rebreanu confessed that he was impressed by a scene captured at


the border village Prislop, when a peasant bent over and kissed the land. The
scene was embedded in his mind, stunned him, obsessed him and was fixed in
the course of the epic novel.

He aims to represent through Ion al Glanetasului the Romanian peasant


organic passion for land that was born, that lives and dies. Ion is a realistic novel
of social observation. The novel has a complex structure: following the fate of the
main character, background Transylvanian village with its traditions and customs.
REbreanu is committed to spherical building: novel begins and ends with the
same image

Marin Preda's novel presents the facts of life of a family or the story of a
peasant family in the Danube Plain, from Siliştea-Gumeşti, who knows over a
quarter century, a deep and symbolic teasing.The rural soul is there rudimentary,
obsessed of accumulation in material order and only after this process ended, he
can hear other voices coming from within.

The novel ,,Ion,, is structured in two suggestive parts (,,Glasul


pamantului,, si ,,Glasul iubirii,,), the chapters have synthesis titles
(,,Inceputul,, , ,,Hora,, , ,,Nunta,, , ,,Nasterea,, etc). The action is organized, yet,
around a central figure, of a subtle and voluntary hero ,Ion. While the novel
Morometii is structured in two parts (by volume), first volume has three parts and
the second volume has five parts.

The central theme in Morometii is moral freedom fight historical fatalities.


Time is crafty, patience is not only a form of storage for a new crisis. The central
theme in the novel Ion is the desire to give enrichment of the main character.

The subject had a simple and banal plot.Ion Pop al Glanetasului wishes
earth with a passion to consume them being(in novel ,, Ion,,) and in novel
,,Morometii,, , subject intended for Moromete family.

Both novels are based on the central scenes in which we are facts of life of
the characters.
