Title: Leveling: Equipments: 1. Tripod - 1 Unit

The document provides instructions for conducting a leveling survey using a tripod, automatic level, measuring tape, plumb bob, and leveling staff. It describes setting up the automatic level on the tripod at a 25 meter mark along a 50 meter baseline. It then details leveling and focusing the instrument. The procedure involves taking backsight and intermediate sight readings from the level to the staff positioned sequentially at 0, 25, and 75 meters to record elevations along the baseline.

Title: LEVELING

Equipments: 1. Tripod - 1 unit

2. Measuring tape - 1 unit

3. Automatic level - 1 unit

4. Plumb bob - 1 unit

5. Leveling staff - 1 unit

Procedures:

1. Firstly, select a suitable area and pull the measuring tape at 50 meter.
2. Then, automatic level is placed in accurately at 25 meter.
i. Open tripod legs to about 600 and press firmly into the ground.
ii. Open box and note carefully how the instrument is packed. Neglecting this may
cause considerable difficulty when replacing the instrument, which if done incorrectly
is a source of much of the damage cause to surveying instruments.
iii. Lift instrument from box, but never by the telescope tube.
iv. Screw firmly on to the tripod. Taking care not to cross the treads.
v. Roughly level the instrument by adjusting the tripod and complete by means of the
foot-screws. Make the bubble axis at right angles to the vertical axis of the
instrument as follows:
 3 screw level
Position 1: telescope parallel to screw A and B; turn screw A and B in opposite
directions until the bubble is in the center of the run (the bubble will follow the
movement of the left thumb).
Position 2: at right angles to position 1; turn screw C until bubble is in the center
of the run.
Position 3: turn back to position 1 and repeat until the bubble remains central
when telescope is turned in any direction.
 4 screw level
Position 1: turn screw A and B.
Position 2: turn screw B and C.
Position 3: turn back to position 1 and repeat until bubble remains central when
telescope is turned in any direction.
vi. Focus cross hairs, this is best done by putting the telescope out of focus and
focusing the cross hair by moving the eyepiece.
vii. Sights on the staff and focus the telecope.
3. Secondly, put the leveling staff in position at 0 meter. Then, take the reading in
backsight.
4. Then, put the leveling staff in position at 25 meter. Take the reading in intermediate
sight.
5. Next, at 75 meter, take the reading in intermediate sight.
6. Record all the information.
