Here are the corrected statements: 1) A crow bar helps to shift a large load with a small effort. 2) A pulley makes it easy to lift a heavy load from a well with less effort. 3) A see-saw is an example of a lever. 4) The point at which a lever is supported is called its fulcrum. 5) It is easier to roll heavy drums up an inclined plane than carry them up directly. The students will bring different types of levers available at home and will classify them based on whether the load, effort or fulcrum is located at the center or end, and identify the type of lever (1st, 2nd

ACTIVITY—The teacher will have 2 bowls one containing hot water and the other cold water.

( This will
not be disclosed to the students ) The students will be called one by one and will be asked to dip their
hands simultaneously in both the bowls. Their reactions will be observed. This activity will be repeated
with all the students and the observation will be recorded below.

HOT / COLD WATER REACTION

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Introduction

How do the food and oxygen reach the different parts of your body ? They are carried around in the
blood .The heart pumps blood around your body . It travels in a closed network of tubes called blood
vessels. It also picks up the waste material and carbon di oxide which are then sent out of your body.
This system is called the CIRCULATORY SYSTEM.

Human circulatory system consists of the following:

1) BLOOD- A medium through which substances are transported from one part of the body to
another.

2) BLOOD VESSELS—These are connected to the heart and are of 3 kinds

a) Arteries- Thick walled blood vessels which carry blood from heart to various parts of the
body. Aorta is the largest artery in our body.
b) Veins- Thin walled blood vessels bring blood from various parts of body back to heart

c) Capillaries- These are thin vessel that connects arteries to veins.

3) HEART—A muscular organ that pumps blood.

Use the words from this list to complete the sentences below.

Muscles Expands veins capillaries carbon dioxide oxygen lungs

chambers four contracts arteries food waste blood aorta heart

1) The heart is made of thick , strong ___________ . It has four _____________.

2) When the heart _________, blood is forced into the ___________________

3) This blood carries _______________ and ______________ to all parts of the body.

4) It collects _____________ and _______________ materials from there.

5) It is carried back to the heart by the ___________________

6) From the heart it goes to the __________________ . It gives up _______________ and takes in
fresh ______________

7) It goes back to the ___________________ and is again sent around the body.

EXCRETORY SYSTEM
The kidneys and the bladder help your body get rid of waste products. The kidneys are bean shaped
organs . They are found at the back of the body , near your waist. The bladder is a bag which stores urine.

The blood picks up waste substances as it circulates around the body. When the blood flows through the
kidneys , these substances are filtered out. They are stored in the bladder for sometime and passed put as
urine.
