Installation Guide of Windows Se7en Via USB

To install Windows Vista or Windows 7 using a bootable USB drive: 1. Use the Diskpart utility to clean, create a primary partition, format, and set the active flag on a 4GB or larger USB drive. 2. Copy all Windows installation files to the USB drive. 3. Restart the PC and boot from the USB drive to start installation. Use the Bootsect.exe fix if booting fails.

Install Windows Vista and Windows 7 using bootable USB storage device

A 4GB USB 2.0 Storage device (Its recommended to use USB 2.0 device for optimal performance)

1. Plug your USB storage device. and run CMD and execute the following commands one by one.

Diskpart
Run Disk partition utility

List disk
To get disk index that is used to perform disk partitioning.

Select disk 1
Selects disk to perf orm disk par titioning.

Clean
Flush your existing all USB drive’s par titions.

Create partition primary


Creates a partition as pr imary partition.

Format recommended
Format your USB drive with recommended parameters. (No need to wor ry about file system format)

If you have customized WIM image and its bigger than 4Gb than you’ll have to format your USB flash drive in
NTFS file system, therefore the command would be: Format FS=NTFS

Active
Set the partition as active to hold bootmgr.

Exit
To quit Diskpart utility

2. Now copy all Windows Vista/7 files to USB storage device…that’s all.

3. Boot your PC with it, you can install Windows Vista/7 via bootable USB storage device.

Note: If you face any trouble to boot with it or unable to boot, try this FIX.

I:\Boot\Bootsect.exe /NT60 I:

Where I: is the drive letter of USB storage device
