Services are intangible activities or benefits provided by one party to another that do not result in ownership. Services differ from goods in that they are intangible and heterogeneous, produced through customer-provider interactions, and consumed as they are produced. Services can be classified in several ways, including by industry, target effect, skill level required, labor intensity, and degree of customer contact. The goal is to fully satisfy customers and increase profits by identifying new service opportunities.
