Tut Sheet Mcm01

The document contains two tutorial sheets for a course on Metal Cutting and Metrology. The first sheet contains questions about basic machining operations, single point cutting tools, tool angles, rake angles, and how rake angle affects tool life. The second sheet contains questions about Merchant's force circle, types of chips, chip breakers, orthogonal cutting forces, and using Lee & Shaffer's relation to determine shear angle.

Explain the basic machining operation with the help of neat sketch. Explain the various element of single point cutting tool in ASA system with the help of neat sketch. Show the ORS of tool angles with the help of neat sketch. Write the relationship between ASA and ORS system of tool angles. What do you mean by zero, positive and negative rake angle in single point cutting tool. Describe the tool represented by 7, 10, 5, 8, 9, 8, 1 mm in ASA system. When the use of positive rake angle and negative rake angle are recommended. How does the rake angle affect the life of cutting tool.
