10 JAN, NEW HAMPSHIRE The race for convention delegates resumes here. Romney, who 14 governed Massachusetts next door, may win this first primary easily, but the stakes are highest for Jon Huntsman, former Utah Governor, who will quit if he flops.

4 FEB, NEVADA Romney, if he has been edged from first place in both South Carolina and Florida, perhaps by Perry or Gingrich, must use the Nevada caucuses, some held in casinos on the Las Vegas strip, to reassert himself as the presumptive nominee.
21 JAN, SOUTH CAROLINA The first test in the South is less predictable. With many evangelical voters, it will be less friendly to Romney and give Perry a first chance to show he is a credible candidate. If still running, Bachmann will look for a boost. 31 JAN, FLORIDA Gingrich has promised to stay in the race long-term whatever happens. The Florida primary is where he may make his mark. Polls show the former House Speaker in a dead heat with Romney.
6 MAR, SUPER TUESDAY Ten states choose and there may be four or five runners still in the race, including libertarian Ron Paul. After Super Tuesday, more than 700 of the convention delegates will have been picked of the 1,143 needed to secure the nomination.
