Hughesville Borough Council Minutes

January 23, 2012 - 7:00, PM


Council members and staff present Jeffery Berger, Andrew Mook, Curtis Michael, Mary Burns, James Savage, Richard Smith, and Mayor Walter Reed The regular meeting of the Hughesville Borough Council was called to order by Council President Jeffery Berger followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Guests and Visitors: Mike Palmeter, Josh Brokaw (Sun-Gazette) Approve Agenda: January 23, 2012 Burns moved, seconded by Mook. Motion passed. Approve Minutes: January 3, 2012 Smith moved, seconded by Savage. Motion passed. Solicitor: Tira said he filed 2 new liens for the Water Authority as well as refilled liens from the 1990s to preserve them; he has personnel to discuss in closed session. Mayors Report: Reed received several phone calls regarding snow on the curbs when were plowing as well as the speed of the trucks; he said he already discussed this with Cahn. Police Chief: Gill asked Council to consider the purchase of a 2006 Explorer which the County Sheriffs Department is selling for about $10,000. East Lycoming Recreation: Letter attachment Treasurer:

Michael moved, seconded by Burns. Motion passed. Business:

DCED Grants (this was originally emailed to council) DCNR Grant

Committee Reports: WATER Smith said the Water Authority picked up 16 new customers Council goes into executive session: 7:40 PM Michael moved, seconded by Mook. Motion passed. Reopened at 7:44 PM Michael moved to extend the Police chiefs contract for another 3 years, seconded by Burns. Motion passed. Wage increase is 3% for 2012.

Adjournment: 7:52 Burns moved, seconded by Mook. Motion passed.
