Why it is BAD to prolong Rx Time

First proposed by Withers and by Fowler in 1980s. In Head & Neck Cancer local control is reduced by about 1.4% (range 0.4-2.5%) for each day that the overall treatment time is prolonged. In Carcinoma Cervix, a mean of 0.5% local control (range 0.3-1.1%) is lost for each day that the overall time is prolonged.
