Bristow Helicopters Safety Statement

Bristow Helicopters took precautionary inspections of its EC225 helicopter fleet in Aberdeen after an emergency landing of a non-Bristow EC225 helicopter in the North Sea. The inspections focused on critical aircraft systems and were intended to provide additional confidence to the public and passengers by ensuring the continued airworthiness of Bristow's EC225 helicopters. Normal flight operations with the EC225 fleet resumed the following day after the inspections were completed. Bristow stressed that the inspections were precautionary and that it did not ground its EC225 fleet.

Press Statement

Date: Friday, 11 May 2012 Time: 13:30 hrs

Yesterday, an EC225 helicopter, not operated by Bristow Helicopters Limited, made an emergency landing on water. Safety is Bristows number one priority. We took time out yesterday to consult with our engineering specialists and develop some due diligence inspections focussed on critical aircraft systems. In line with our Target Zero philosophy we are in constant communication with the aircraft manufacturer, Eurocopter. Bristow has eight EC225s in its Aberdeen fleet and has every confidence in the aircraft. We hope that these inspections will help to provide additional confidence for the public and our passengers. We felt this was the right thing to do before continuing with operations. Bristow would like to stress that these proactive measures were precautionary only and we have not grounded our fleet and normal operations have resumed today.
