IndiAge NeutraFlex

New Neutral cellulase granule for denim finishing

DESCRIPTION IndiAge NeutraFlex is a highly concentrated cellulase specifically designed to be formulated for use in premium, high-contrast denim finishing. IndiAge NeutraFlex allows the stonewashing process to take place in a wide range of pH and temperature conditions. This results in ease of use and ease of formulation. IndiAge NeutraFlex enzyme is granulated using the Enzoguard technology, featuring: Narrow particle size distribution. Chemical and physical stability. Good blendability. Genencor uses state-of-the-art biotechnology methods. This product contains an enzyme produced by a genetically modified organism, in a fermentation process and is biodegradable. ADVANTAGES IndiAge NeutraFlex has outstanding performance in low temperature and wide pH range, resulting in a robust performance. IndiAge NeutraFlex renders excellent storage stability even in high temperatures, reducing the loss of activity during storage. IndiAge NeutraFlex gives a high contrast effect with low backstaining level, producing high quality garments with ease of clean-up after stonewashing.

PROCESS CONDITIONS Proper and complete desizing prior to the stonewashing cycle is required for consistent performance. Genencor Optisize amylase products are recommended for removal of starch sizing materials. Low and high temperature amylase products are available from Genencor. pH and Temperature. To optimize enzyme performance for abrasion, backstaining, and fabric strength retention, use the parameters in the table shown below. Table 1. Operating parameters process parameter pH Temperature Liquor ratio Time operational range 5.0 - 8.0 20 - 60 C ( 68 - 140F) 3:1 to 20:1 15 - 60 minutes

DOSAGE RECOMMENDATIONS IndiAge NeutraFlex enzyme is a concentrated enzyme product; it is not designed to be used as ready-to-use product. The dosage of the final formulation depends on the type of formulation, as well as on the process parameters, the type of denim, the type of machine, and the desired effects. As a starting point, a range of 1 - 5 % in the formulation is recommended. ENZYME INACTIVATION If desired, IndiAgeI NeutraFlex enzyme can be inactivated by holding the bath at pH > 9.0 and temperature > 30C for 5 minutes. Soda ash (sodium carbonate) or borax (sodium borate) or an alkaline detergent are recommended for pH adjustment. PACKAGING IndiAge NeutraFlex enzyme is available in 20 kg carton boxes and 1000 kg big bags.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS Activity: Min. 800 NPCN Units/g(*) Appearance: Spherical tan, free flowing granules

(*)The activity of the enzyme is expressed in NPCN (o-Nitrophenyl- -D-cellobioside neutral) units and is determined against an internal standard for ensuring lot-to-lot consistency. The enzyme activity value is not a measure for abrasion performance. A detailed assay method is available upon request.

FORMULATION IndiAge NeutraFlex enzyme is compatible with most textile processing aids, including buffers, nonionic wetting agents and dispersants, pumice stones, and diatomaceous earth. A Formulation Guideline is available upon request.

STORAGE To ensure extended shelf life, store IndiAge NeutraFlex enzyme at 25C or below in a closed plastic-liner within a sealed container. Prolonged exposure of this product to elevated temperature and/or humidity levels will result in a loss of activity. Reformulated IndiAge NeutraFlex products should also be packaged in closed plastic liners within sealed containers. SAFETY & ENZYME HANDLING Inhalation of enzyme dust and mists should be avoided. In case of contact with the skin or eyes, promptly rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. For detailed handling information, please refer to the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet; the Enzyme Technical Association (ETA) handbook, Working Safely With Enzymes; and the Association of Manufacturers and Formulators of Enzyme Products (Amfep) handbook, Guide to the Safe Handling of Microbial Enzyme Preparations. All are available from Genencor.
